TECHNICIAN: THE 4 S FORMULA

Technician, you strive toward goals and can get buried by the building of the processes.  These are the details you love so much!  In your connection with the process, you have a tendency to lack feeling around the outcome.  Your goal-oriented drive can leave you disconnected from feeling that sense of joy in your efforts or accomplishments.  The love of the process, the high expectations and the constant pushing of self, begins to take its toll.

One of your gifts is to figure things out.  You need to connect to your WHY.  Get very clear on why you do what you do.  This can be your big WHY or Purpose and trickle down into the WHY for each project that you undertake.

You’ve heard it before:  Start with the end in mind.  This is important for you, Technician, because it goes against your nature.  Even when you begin with the end in mind, you may lose it as you focus on the details…It’s how you’re wired!

So here is a simple system to help you connect differently with your work.  Here is the 4 S Formula!

  1. Start with the End – Plan your project/program/life from the “Big Picture” view and map out in a visual representation.  Place it where you can see it daily.
  2. Stay in Alignment with your WHY – Clearly connect your intentions and goals to why you do what you do.  Review them DAILY.
  3. Surround Yourself with Passionate, Feeling People - They will help to remind you not to lose yourself in your process.  Plus, learning to FEEL your way through parts of the process helps you stay connected to your WHY and your ideal customer, client, and audience.
  4. Schedule Time for Fun – Yes…FUN.  It is too easy for you to get bogged down in the work, putting high expectations and unrealistic expectations on yourself.  Put it on your calendar.  Reframe it as another aspect of the project that has to be done!

Do you see where I’m going with this, Technician?  Yes, I’m asking you to step out of your comfort zone on some of these.  It’s not all about work!   You are meant to enjoy life along the way!  (It’s only logical.)

Step away from your desk, your writing, or your problem solving and commit to the 4 S Formula.  It will free you from some of the habitual thinking that binds you.

As a Technician, you love a system…Start this one, today!

TECHNICIAN, PLANNER, PROBLEM SOLVER

Technician, you are a master of your craft or trade and adept with systems and structure.  Wrapping a plan around ideas is not just a skillset, it is your gift.  You easily understand how to set up grids for implementing and launching ideas. Your intense focus on achievements makes you the ideal person to take on large projects.

The art of planning and blueprinting is your primary talent!  You present yourself and your work with precision and deliberation.   A natural problem solver, you are driven by facts and data. Your keen observation of details often compels you to fix even the slightest problems.

Getting a broader perspective is a logical concept for you to explore.  It is common for you to get lost in the details and miss the bigger picture.  Stepping back, literally and figuratively helps you to reconnect with the outcome.  It allows you to regain a balance between your love for the process and the end-result.  With a more expansive context, you will see where you are sacrificing fun for long work hours.  Use your planning mastery to integrate more joy into your efforts, granting yourself more grace in the area of high expectations.

Technician, you have so much to offer in a fast-paced, data-driven world!  Connect with other Profit Types who do things differently than you.  Share your abundant skills and be willing to move beyond the process into collaboration and growth!

THE STRIVER'S COMPETITIVE EDGE

Striver, you have an innate drive to compete.  Use that strength of self-motivation to get in touch with your WHY.  Too often you are focused on the HOW and WHAT instead of allowing the reasons why you do what you do to lead the way.  When your WHY is clear, remind yourself of that WHY each and every day through:

  • Goal setting
  • Journaling
  • Vision Board
  • To-Do List Writing
  • Sticky note messages
  • Voice Memos.

Then, have some fun with it!

You love a challenge, contest, or competition!  Why not create your own?  Use that boundless energy of yours to develop a competition that appeals to you and your ideal customer, client, or audience.  You get to decide on the topic, the length, and the prizes of your competition.  It sparks engagement with others, energizes you and your base, and it’s fun!

What kind of challenge, contest, or competition could you create?  The sky is the limit!  You’ll want to focus on a topic that interests and excites your people and aligns with your branding or work.  Here are some topics to get your creative juices flowing:

  • Video Challenge
  • Exercise Challenge
  • Online Challenge
  • Photo Contest
  • Joke Writing Contest
  • Speech Contest
  • Art/Music/Drama Performance Contest
  • Sales Competition
  • Weight-Loss Contest
  • Best Idea for ________ Contest
  • Social Media Contests

You get the idea!  There are a plethora of resources on line to help you develop your own challenges.

You’ll need to know:

  1. What you plan to get out of it  - Lead generation, visibility?
  2. The type of Contest.
  3. The Length of Contest.
  4. Your Audience and what they will get out of it.
  5. Your Rules and Stipulations.
  6. The Prizes and Promises.  Spell it all out to drive engagement!
  7. The Platform you’ll use - Facebook or some other Social Media?
  8. How to pre-view submissions first for appropriateness.

Striver, use your love of competition to spice things up in your life and work!  This is a great way to use your energy to showcase your talents while connecting with others and generating leads!  Game on!

SELF-MADE STRIVER

Hello, Striver!  You have so many talents and ambitions, it’s hard to know where to begin!  Your high-energy nature leads you towards action.  You excel in many areas and possess an abundance of self-determination and drive.  You’re always on the go, willing to accept the next challenge, and courageously jump right into the next task or project.

You love to win but hate to fail.  This often creates an attachment to the outcome, pushing yourself to do way too much.  You may be left feeling stressed and overwhelmed, costing you your peace of mind.

At times you may find yourself comparing yourself with others.  This stems from a fear of how others see you, which can leave you feeling like you’re “never enough.”  That, in turn feeds into more self-driven behavior.  The ability to motivate yourself is wonderful, but check in on what compels you to action.  When you can truly celebrate the success of others, without feeling “less than,” yourself, you know you are coming from a place of wholeness.

Striver, you are a high achiever with the tenacity, perseverance and vision to achieve anything you desire.  You have the profit personality type that creates self-made individuals!

The world is your oyster, Striver!  Begin to use your vast talents and fortitude to create the success that you desire, TODAY!

STAGING FOR THE PERFORMER

As the Performer, I have three words for you:   Delegate!  Delegate!  Delegate!  You will be the most successful when you surround yourself with people who thrive on detail work.  Details can become overwhelming for you.  Handing off the minutia frees you up to focus on where you shine:  the stage!

So, open your mind to adding more structure in your life, professionally and personally.  Push past the resistance you might feel about working in a more concrete manner.   Welcome a framework and invite the support that this system might lend you!

Here are is the A-D Formula!

  1. Articulate the Picture of Your Plan – As a “Big Picture” person, mapping out your plan and placing it where you can see it often is important.
  2. Balance Your Goals with Clear Intentions – Your plan should clearly connect your intentions to your goals.  SMART goals will help you cover all your bases:  Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Sensitive.
  3. Chunk Down the Day/Projects – Use time blocking and get those goals mapped out visibly.  Write deadlines that are on your calendar!  Important information goes on the calendar, so psychologically, that grabs your attention and keeps you organized.  Steps are less likely to fall through the cracks.
  4. Develop Your Leadership Skills – You love the crowd, and the crowd loves you.  You command attention easily.  Find a stage or create your own.  Hone your natural leadership ability and get in front of the masses!

Begin NOW!   Organize what you have been avoiding so you can turn up the spotlight on your natural Perfomer talents!

PERFORMER, SHINE YOUR BRILLIANCE!

Performer, you love the big stage and are well suited for the limelight.  You are a gifted speaker, often the life of the party, and engage your audience with an entertaining flair.  Your fun is in the performance.

You tend to be a self-starter and your innovative nature finds you choosing the unexplored path, “marching to the beat of your own drum.”  The bigger the stage, decision or risk, the bigger the thrill for you!  Be aware that smaller venues or adventures might create a feeling of being boxed in or constrained and be prepared.

You see things from the big picture and don’t have much patience for details, which tend to bore you.  Because you love things fast-paced, you sometimes skip or miss steps along the way, and some details might fall through the cracks.

In the performance, you shine!  It comes easily to you and you may expect the same performance level from others.  Connecting with a big crowd comes easily, but you may have more difficulty connecting with individuals.  Make it a habit of making eye-contact with people as you speak, either from the stage or in more intimate gatherings.  That way people will feel you are genuinely connecting with them not just “performing” a role

Strong performers know how to accentuate their strengths and shore-up their short-comings. Allow the spotlight to illuminate areas that your profit personality likes to avoid.  Address those short-comings, rehearse new ways to overcome them, and become more authentic in the process.

As Steve Martin once said, “Be so good they can’t ignore you.”  Performer, take the stage and shine, shine, shine!

DREAMER ACTIONS THAT WORK

Dreamer, your charm comes from your ability to connect with your heart and feeling nature.  It is natural for you to make decisions and take action based on your feelings.  Begin to incorporate a balance of facts/data and feelings into the decision-making process.  Your greatest success will be starting and finishing an initiative.  That requires both fact and feeling faculties to come together for optimal results.

Here is a system to help you take decisive action with consistency to create tangible results.  Notice what happened inside you when you read “system.”  Was there some resistance?  Here’s the truth of the matter:  When you have a system to follow and execute, your nervous system calms down, because there is a plan to bring a flow to your life.  It also helps bring out that part of you that understands how the Law of Attraction works.  When you get clear about your plan (Vision), you are signaling your desires to the Universe.  A plan is an extension of your Vision for how you administer your brilliance into the world.  Make sense?

So, open your mind and heart to more structure in your life, professionally and personally.  Push past the resistance you might feel about working in a more concrete manner.   Welcome the structure and invite the support that this system might lend you!

Here are the 4 basic steps!

  1. DEVELOP Your Plan – Create a simple, written plan to concretely move your idea forward.  You are a visual person, so putting your plan to paper is important.  Put it where you see it often.
  2. DEFINE YOUR Goals – Your plan should contain SMART goals:  Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Sensitive.
  3. DETERMINE Your Deadlines – Get those goals mapped out with deadlines that are on the calendar!  Important information goes on the calendar, so psychologically, that grabs your attention!
  4. DISCIPLINE Yourself! – (Did you find your chest tensing just a little bit when you read “discipline”?)  If you need help in this area, get some accountability!  Hire a coach!

Now, begin!  You’ve been given talents that are meant to be shared.  Set your intention and take the action!   Service and giving are your gifts.  Let your new system allow you to accentuate these gifts to reach more people!

INSPIRED DREAMER

Hello, Dreamer!  As a highly intuitive individual, your work is inspired as well as inspiring.   You love spending time in your imagination, crafting your vision, feeling the results of the life you envision.  As a Dreamer, you see are upbeat and positive, and continually look for the bright side of a situation.

You are the poster child of service and giving.  Helping others is your hallmark!  These ideals are your priority and often your primary focus over money.  You enjoy money and what it can do, but it is rarely your first consideration.

Sometimes, the dream brings you to life more than the actual steps to get you there!  This can cause frustration when you set an intention, hold the energy for that intention, and your intention doesn’t show up.  The frustration emphasizes the gap between the dream you imagine and evidence of reality.

Your frustration can result in less activity or ineffective action.  This can dim your spark and slow your progress.  You may find yourself avoiding the “hard” tasks or the steps you don’t like to do.  Perhaps steps such as making phone calls…

Dreamer, you fully understand the intangible.  It is important that you learn how to express tangible outcomes for those around you.  It is crucial to structure your message to others in ways that speak plainly about the benefits you offer.  This helps you reach a broader audience.

Let your light of inspiration shine through your dedication to the service and giving of others!

CREATIVE GENIUS: FROM IDEA TO IMPLEMENTATION

You have an idea that is ready to be implemented!  You need a system to take that idea from your intention into completion.  It is time to step into action and bring the idea into form!

If you’re like most Creative Geniuses, the concept of a system probably made you cringe!  Why?  Because you love the process of imagining ideas and coming up with new ideas, not being “squeezed” into what might feel is a rigid process for implementation.

Here’s the truth of the matter:  When you have a system to follow and execute, your nervous system calms down, because there is a plan to bring your ideas to life.  It also delights that part of you that wants to bring the idea to life!

CULTIVATING YOUR CREATIVE GENIUS

Hello, Creative Genius!  You love ideas and you are able to make mental transformations easily.  Your creative juices are constantly flowing and you easily see the possibilities that each idea presents!  You are driven by the creativity that comes from idea generation.  As a brilliant brainstormer, you can visualize unique ways to connect ideas.  Your imagination is one of your highly coveted gifts, as you use it often to create ideas, products, programs and more!

Idea generation is your gift, and prioritizing and executing those ideas may be your nemesis!  The process of implementation may have many starts and stops for several reasons.

  • You may get distracted by new ideas that grab your attention.
  • You may bounce around between ideas, instead of landing on one and seeing it through to completion.
  • You may become a servant to your ideas and resist letting go of ideas whose time is not NOW!

Continue to cultivate your creativity with 3 simple tools.

  1. Make time to REFLECT every day.  Be intentional about this time for yourself. In the busy-ness of daily life, you are pulled in many directions.  Distractions are part of life, so give your ideas a voice.
  2. As you listen deeply, RECORD ideas.  Get them out of your head and into a journal.  This calms your nervous system because your ideas now have a safe place to land.
  3. REVEAL the ideas that are ready for implementation and develop a written plan and Timeline for execution.

Today, harness the power of your ideas as you cultivate the creativity within you!
